ASPIRE 2025 BioBook

My name is Verene Lancaster, and I have been employed by Georgia Institute of Technology for almost 15 years. My background includes working with non- profits, corporations, and the military. I’ve had the honor of working with a variety of skilled, cross-functional teams during my career. Working with Georgia Tech’s scientific community has been incredibly fascinating. I thrive in environments that challenge me to continuously learn, adapt, and evolve. An environment that allows me to develop innovative solutions to meet the current needs using my expertise in aligning them with the goals of the various stakeholders. My manager’s commitment and enthusiasm to fostering such an atmosphere constantly encourages me. When I train junior staff, I strongly encourage initiative and self - motivation to fulfill the goals of our school, unit and the Institute. I believe in cultivating a culture of collaboration and continuous learning. Since I regard it as an opportunity to create new alliances as well as open doors to cooperation and trust, I am constantly interested in fostering communication and active listening, to open pathways to collaboration. Throughout my career I ’ve held a variety of positions, all of which have influenced how important leadership is in every setting. To get the intended results, leaders must not only be present but also present their vision and plan to make wise choices. Moving forward I am determined to use my knowledge and expertise to keep improving as a leader. In addition to having the motivation to encourage and inspire others, I see myself establishing foundations based on respect, prioritizing others and nurturing abilities.
